Summer Sandal Seaon - Get Those Tootsies in Tiptop Shape

Tuesday, 21 June 2011 13:47:47 Europe/London

Summer is Here - And it's going to be a long one..

What's the biggest problem you see with feet after they've been hibernating away all winter? And how do you rectify them to get feet flip-flop friendly.

Basically people tend to neglect their feet in the winter months. Walking around all winter in boots or wearing ill fitted shoes is a major problem and can lead to corns, bruised toenails or bunions. Simple steps such as alternating between high and low heels and taking a little extra care throughout the winter can rectify this. Always remember that just because they haven't been on show for a while it doesn't mean those tootsies won’t be popping out again soon.

To get feet back in shape make sure you carryout the following steps

  • Always use good quality nail clippers for cutting your nails as they are much more accurate than scissors. Try using The Edge Toenail Clippers. Use a foot file The Edge Pedi’padl is perfect to get rid of dead skin, buffing the feet is important, if your heels have any hard skin try The Edge Credo Cutter.
  • Exfoliate feet once a week using The Edge of Nature Tea Tree Exfoliant Scrub.
  • Always make sure you moisturise after bathing using either The Edge of Nature Juniper and Lavender Massage Oil or The Edge Peppermint Foot Cream.
  • Have a regular pedicure to avoid foot problems and costly chiropodist fees.

Always use good quality nail clippers for cutting your nails as they are much more accurate than scissors. Try using The Edge Toenail Clippers.

After a couple of weeks of following these rules the skin should improve and become softer while your nails will be in great shape, once you get to this stage less maintenance is needed and feet should only require buffing once every two weeks.

I would like to try different looks for summer any suggestions?

Avoid long toenails and instead stick to nails that give the appearance of being natural. You can never go wrong with a French Manicure, an absolute classic for women of all ages. For a more dramatic look be daring and go for deep reds, why not try The Edge Polishes Milan or Beijing or the bolder dark colours such as Translyvania or Dubai, a timeless favourite for many celebrities.

This season why not experiment, anything goes, especially in the summer to show off in your sandals. A personal favourite is polish with crystals, exciting yet classy and not at all tacky. The hottest toes this summer will be adorned with nail art that has evolved from the previous season. Why not try Trendy Wraps from The Edge they will last and last.

What would you recommend to keep toes and finger nails really shiny?

If you're a fan of the natural look, why not try The Edge Super Shiner.... Simply buff clean dry nails to help smooth any ridges using one side of the buffer use the white side to achieve a glass like finish this will also improve blood flow to the nails and encourage healthy growth. Finish with either 5 Star Top Coat or Mirror Gloss for extra protection and shine.

Which shades of nail polish enhance a tan

Many colours look great with a tan especially shimmering and frosted tones also bright neon colours give a really on trend look. Try Egyptian Gold or Northern Lights or for that neon look try Palm Beach or Sunset Bay.

What are the prettiest pastel colours for toes?

If you want to go for pastels then make sure you pick a shade with lots of pigment to help cover any imperfections and don't go too close to your natural skin colour. Steer clear of beige it is not a good look on the toes. I would recommend Santa Rose or Champagne polishes from The Edge for a really classic look.

How often should you have pedicure to get your feet in prime condition?

You should have a pedicure every 3/4 weeks as this will not only keep you looking well groomed, but also can be beneficial for your feet as, with regular trips to your manicurist, you can keep the chiropodist at bay. Most importantly if you haven't got time to pop in to the salon or do your toe nails yourself make sure you NEVER wear open toe shoes with chipped nail polish. Naked toes can look good when buffed to a glass like finish so it’s much better to quickly remove polish and quickly buff them!

Soak Off UV Coloured Gel Kit - Trouble Shooting Guide

Wednesday, 16 March 2011 16:08:29 Europe/London

SOAK OFF UV COLOURED GEL KIT

TROUBLE-SHOOTING GUIDE

The Coloured Gel isn't curing?

Apply the gel in thinner coats and be sure to cure the nails for the full 3 minutes for each coat.

My UV Lamp get's quite hot?

If your lamp is switched on continuously for a length of time. You may find that top of the UV lamp will get slightl hot, try switching the lamp on only when the nails are under the lamp.

When I wipe the tacky layer away some colour comes off on the lint free pad?

This is the dispersion layer. The gel will be cured underneath.

After I wipe the tacky surface of the Gel, the colour doesn't cover the nail evenly?

Correct preparation is very important. Ensure that the nails are thoroughly dehydrated and primed before applying the first layer of gel. If you do need to apply more coats after wiping the tacky surface gently etch the surface of the gel using the Orange Foamie wipe and wipe away the dust before applying another coat.

Alternatively after curing the 2nd layer of coloured gel for 3mins fo not wipe the tacky surface, apply a layer of clear gel then cure for 3mins, this will help to seal the colour. Wipe the tacky surface of the clear gel.

Apply Mirror Gloss to add extra protection and shine.

The Gel is not wearing as well as i'd hoped?

Always apply the Mirror Gloss Top Coat as a sealer if needed you can re-apply every couple of days

Many factors can affect the longevity of the gel. It is important to remember to look after your nails and wear protective gloves whilst using cleaning products, washing up or gardening etc.

The Gel seems to shrink back fromt the edge of the nail when cured?

This can happen if the edge of the nail isn't sealed. It is important to remember to seal all nail edges.

The Gel seems to move before i have chance to cure it?

Take care not to apply too much gel which can flood the cuticles and sidewalls of the nail, always leave a 1mm gals around the edges of the nail... Try 'flash curing' - curing each nails for 10 seconds immediately after applying the gel, this will hold the gel in place until the full 3 minute cure.
